Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme
This scheme of giving scholarship for pre-matric education is to encourage parents to send their children to school for education. This scheme also helps them in lowering financial burden and also supporting the efforts parents do to make their children educated. The implementation of this scheme will also support in attaining not only education but also guiding themselves to stand in the competitive world. With successful implementation of the scheme the family gains the social economic betterment of the minority families.
The eligibility of the scholarship holds the scope in any of the government or private schools of India for studying in classes from 1st to 10th.
The students who have secured at least 50 percent of marks in their previous examination are eligible for the benefit of this scholarship. The scholarship also is given to the students whose parents’ annual income is lesser than Rs 1 lakh.
The minority groups who can be benefitted by this scheme belong to Muslims, Christian, Zoroastrians, Sikhs and Buddhists community as notified under Section 2 (C) guided under National Commission for Minorities Act of 1992. The total amount of scholarship allotted to the state or union territories depends on the minority population of the state or union territories as recorded by the census of 2001.
Earmarking for Girl Students
A fixed ratio of 30 percent has been allotted for the girl student. In the case if the count of girl students is not met the remaining balance amount of the scholarship is disbursed for the usage by the qualified boy students.
Under the scheme, the total count of the scholarship decided for the minorities for a particular year remains fixed and hence preference must be given for selecting the beneficiaries under this scheme. The selection must be made on the basis of poverty level than considering the marks of the students. For the renewal of applications the already existing applications must be completely drained before considering the new applications under this scheme.
The scholarship under this scheme is given for the implementation of complete course despite only a ten months allowance is given as a maintenance allowance for a particular academic year.
