Janani Suraksha Yojana

Janani Suraksha Yojana is a scheme which was proposed by the Indian Government with an aim to reduce the neo-natal or maternal deaths. The Prime Minister of India launched this scheme on 12th April 2005. The scheme was fully sponsored by the central government. The scheme incorporates cash assistance to the mothers along with free delivery and care after the delivery. The increased number of institutional deliveries among the poor families determined the success of this scheme. ASHA activist played an important role in this scheme.
